- Wet Cut

A wet cut is a ladies' haircut performed on freshly washed, damp hair, giving the stylist full control to create precise, clean lines and a balanced shape. It's the traditional core technique used across the industry and is especially well suited to those wanting a structured, well defined result rather than a quick trim.

What Happens During a Wet Cut
At Timba, the process follows a few clear steps:
- A short consultation to talk through your current hair, face shape, and desired result
- Washing and conditioning, leaving hair damp but not dripping for cutting
- Sectioning the hair and cutting in controlled segments to build the shape
- Checking balance, refining the edges, and removing weight where needed
- A light dry and final check once the cut is complete
Because damp hair hangs under its own weight, free from product and static, it shows its true length and fall, making it easier for our stylists to cut evenly and accurately.
Who It Suits
Wet cutting works particularly well for:
- Bobs, blunt cuts, and tapered shapes where sharp, symmetrical lines matter
- Thick or coarse hair, where wetting helps stretch the hair for an even outline
- Many wavy hair types, for the same reason
- Clients preparing for a chemical service, such as a perm, where uniform length helps with even processing
If you wear very tight curls day to day, a stylist may suggest a dry or hybrid approach instead, to better preserve your natural curl pattern. Our team, including Katie Williams, Emma Stokes, Chloe Phillips, and Hannah James, can advise on the best approach for your hair type during consultation.
Wet Cut vs Cut and Blow-Dry
This service focuses mainly on the cut itself, with only a light dry to check the finish, rather than full styling.
- Choose a wet cut if you mainly want the shape refreshed or restyled
- Choose a cut and blow-dry if you also want a full styled finish to leave with
- Fine detailing and texturizing are sometimes refined on dry hair afterwards, once the stylist can see how the cut falls naturally
Aftercare and Maintenance
To keep your cut looking sharp between visits:
- Use shampoo and conditioner suited to your hair type
- Apply heat protectant before blow-drying or straightening
- Brush or comb gently, especially when hair is wet, to avoid breakage
- Follow your stylist's advice on products and styling routine
- Book a trim roughly every 6 to 8 weeks to maintain the shape and prevent split ends
