A Half Head Regrowth Tint focuses colour on the new growth at the roots across the parting, crown and sides, leaving the underneath hair largely untouched. It's a practical option for clients who already colour their hair and simply need to blend regrowth and refresh grey coverage without recolouring the full head.
More information
What to expect during the service
Your stylist at Timba will begin with a consultation to check your colour history, grey coverage needs and scalp condition before choosing the right shade and formula.
- Hair is usually assessed dry and product-free, ideally not freshly washed, so natural oils help protect the scalp
- It's sectioned into clean quadrants to expose the regrowth clearly
- Tint is applied only to the roots, working close to the scalp without overlapping onto previously coloured lengths
- Development time is typically 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your hair and the coverage required
- Hair is rinsed thoroughly and finished with shampoo and conditioner to restore balance
Our colour specialist Ceri O'Brien, along with senior stylists Katie Williams, Lucy Osborne and Hannah James, can talk you through the right approach for your regrowth and grey coverage during your visit.
Who this service suits
A half head regrowth tint works well if you:
- Already have coloured lengths and just need the roots refreshed
- Wear your hair down most of the time, so the underneath sections aren't on show
- Want to maintain colour between larger, full head appointments
- Have grey regrowth at the parting, crown or sides that needs blending
If the underneath hair shows strong regrowth, or you often wear your hair up, a full head regrowth tint may give a more even result throughout.
Aftercare and maintenance
Good aftercare helps keep the refreshed colour looking glossy and even for longer.
- Avoid washing hair immediately before your appointment, but also follow your stylist's guidance on timing your first wash after
- Use colour-safe shampoo and conditioner to protect vibrancy
- Limit heat styling and protect hair from strong sun and chlorinated water
- Most clients rebook every 4 to 8 weeks, depending on how quickly regrowth becomes visible
If you've previously used box dye at home or noticed uneven colour, let your stylist know. They may need extra time to assess and correct any banding before applying the tint.
