Fringe Trim

Complimentary
15–0 mins

A fringe trim is a quick, focused appointment that tidies up just the front section of hair forming your fringe, without touching the rest of your cut. At Timba in Cardiff, this is offered free of charge to existing clients as a simple way to help your style stay sharp between full haircuts.

More information

What's Involved

The appointment is short and purposeful, typically around 15 minutes. Our stylists, including Katie Williams, Lucy Osborne, Emma Stokes, Hannah James and Chloe Phillips, will:

  • Have a brief consultation to confirm your preferred length and shape, whether that's just above the brows, sweeping to the side, or a longer curtain style
  • Section off the fringe, usually working on dry hair so the true length and fall can be seen
  • Use blunt cutting for a strong, defined edge or point cutting and texturising to soften it and add movement
  • Check the fringe blends naturally with the rest of your haircut before finishing

This is a maintenance trim, not a restyle. If you're after a completely new fringe shape or a first-time fringe, that's treated as a full haircut and priced accordingly.

Who This Is For

This service suits existing Timba clients who already have a fringe and just need it kept in check.

  • Ideal if your fringe is starting to fall into your eyes or lose its shape
  • Great for short, straight or thick fringes that need more frequent upkeep
  • Not intended for clients wanting a brand new fringe or a significant change in style, thickness or shape

If you have strong cow-licks, curly hair or fine hair, mention this at your consultation so the trim can be tailored to suit how your hair naturally sits.

Maintenance and Aftercare

Regular trims help your fringe, and your overall haircut, look polished for longer.

  • Most fringes benefit from a trim roughly every 3 to 8 weeks, depending on growth rate and style
  • At home, blow-dry forward or to the side using a round brush for volume or a flat brush for sleekness
  • Dry shampoo or a light texturising spray can help manage oil and add texture between visits
  • Avoid cutting your own fringe at home. Come in for a quick, free trim instead to prevent uneven results that are hard to correct

Please note this service doesn't include shampooing or a full blow-dry, it's focused purely on the fringe itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the fringe trim really free?
Yes, at Timba this service is complimentary for existing clients as a loyalty and maintenance perk. New clients or those wanting a brand new fringe would be charged the standard cutting price.
How long does a fringe trim take?
It's a quick appointment, typically around 15 minutes, since only the front section of hair is being trimmed.
Do I need to book, or can I just walk in?
It's best to call ahead or book a specific slot to avoid waiting, especially on busy days, though some salons do accommodate walk-ins for quick trims.
Will my fringe be cut wet or dry?
Fringe trims are usually done on dry hair in its natural fall, so the stylist can see the true length and behaviour before cutting.
How often should I get my fringe trimmed?
Most clients benefit from a trim every 3 to 8 weeks, depending on hair growth rate, fringe length and style.
Can I get a completely new fringe style during this appointment?
No, a fringe trim is a maintenance service for an existing fringe. A new fringe or major style change is treated as a full haircut and priced separately.
What if my fringe isn't sitting right at home?
Avoid cutting it yourself as mistakes are hard to fix. Come in for a free trim instead so it can be reshaped properly.
Does the service include a blow-dry or shampoo?
No, the fringe trim is focused purely on cutting and shaping the fringe and doesn't include a shampoo or full blow-dry.
What if I have a cow-lick or very curly hair?
Let your stylist know beforehand so the trim and shape can be tailored to how your hair naturally falls and behaves.
