Half head foils in Cardiff
Half head foils place woven highlights through the top and sides of your hair - the areas that frame your face and show the most. It's a popular, cost-effective way to brighten and add dimension without a full head of colour.
Perfect for maintaining a highlighted look or lifting your natural shade around the parting and hairline.
A toner can be added as an option to refine your finished tone - just let your stylist know at consultation.
What's included
- A colour consultation to plan your brightness and tone
- Foil highlights through the top and sides
- Optional toner to perfect the finished shade
- A professional finish and aftercare advice
Prices start from £78 and depend on your hair's length, thickness and how much lift is involved. Your exact price is confirmed at your consultation.

What to Expect During Your Appointment
Your visit at Timba will typically follow this structure:
- A consultation to assess your hair's condition, previous colour history and suitability for lightening plus peptide protection
- Sectioning across the top, crown and sides, often using a rectangle pattern up top with the back divided into triangular sections
- Fine slices or weaves of hair placed on foils, with lightener applied and feathered toward the roots to avoid product bleeding
- Foils folded and secured close to the scalp for precise, even placement
- A processing time of roughly 30 to 50 minutes, monitored throughout
- Thorough rinsing, colour-safe shampoo and conditioning, plus the peptide treatment to support hair strength
- Toning where needed to fine-tune the final shade (ash, beige or golden, for example)
Our colour team, including Ceri O'Brien as colour expert alongside stylists such as Emma Stokes, Lucy Osborne and Hannah James, can tailor foiling patterns (horizontal, diagonal, zigzag or mohawk) to suit your hair type and desired finish.
Who This Suits
Half head foils work well if you want:
- Brightness and dimension around the face, parting and crown, with a more natural tone underneath
- A shorter appointment and lower cost than a full head service
- Extra support for hair strength during lightening, particularly useful if hair has some previous colour history
- A look that can be refreshed every 6 to 10 weeks, depending on how much contrast you're comfortable with
It may be less suited to those seeking maximum all-over lightness, or hair that's very compromised from previous colouring, where a more conservative approach or multiple sessions may be recommended instead.
Peptide Protection and Aftercare
Peptide protection is designed to interact with the hair's internal proteins, helping it withstand the stress of lightening with better strength and elasticity. It's supportive, not a substitute for careful technique, and can't fully reverse existing damage.
To help your colour and condition last:
- Use colour-safe, sulfate-free shampoo and hydrating conditioner
- Space out washes where possible
- Limit high-heat styling and always use a heat protectant
- Consider periodic bond or peptide masks to maintain strength and shine
Some temporary dryness or increased porosity after lightening is normal; consistent aftercare helps hair recover condition over time. Timba's team, based in Cardiff, can advise on the right at-home routine and touch-up schedule for your hair.
